At the same time it provides useful bacteria to help boost the efficiency of the biological filter.

The filter bacteria present in your pond are constantly breaking down the toxic ammonida produced by fish and from the breakdown of organic matter. Actizyme pellets contain enzymes and bacteria that aid them in this process, thus speeding up the working of the biological filter system. Actizyme pellets are extremely useful in ponds that have a constant nitrite level, as the bacteria and enzymes present give the biological filter system a boost, thus converting the harmful nitrite into nitrate.

The enzymes in Actizyme pellets also break down the sludge that forms in ponds. This prevents the filter system becoming clogged up so easily, and also has the advantage of reducing the amount of substrate for harmful pathogenic bacteria and parasites to colonise, thus making the pond a safer place for your fish.

Add 2.5 grams of Actizyme pelets for every 250 gallons of pond water each week to control sludge. Add double this dose to new ponds, or ponds where a high nitrite level has been recorded.
