All Swallow Aquatics Fish Houses use large centralised filtration systems which give the twin advantages of precise temperature control and the highest possible water quality in every tank to ensure healthy fish. The general tropical community fish tanks are specifically controlled to match the water chemistry in each area - Rayleigh, East Harling, Gravesend, Colchester or Tenterden- so that when fishkeepers turn on the tap to fill their tanks the two will match - just remember to de-chlorinate the water first!

Swallow Aquatics takes a pride in providing the very best in filtration systems, using biological, fine diatomic and ultra violet sterilisation to ensure optimum clarity and water purity. All branches have display tanks containing large or unusual fish. Many of these are provided by our own customers who find that their favourite fish outgrow the tank at home!

Cichlids: Always the focal point of any room and provide endless talking points over their highly diverse behaviour patterns and breeding activities. For experienced fishkeepers, or those who are looking for something more challenging than community tank fish, Swallow Aquatics provides a wide variety of Cichlids from all over the world. They are very varied and highly interesting and we believe we can meet almost all requirements!Our wild-caught fish come from Africa, Asia, Central and South America along with a growing range of species from our chain of specialist breeders.

Marine Fish & Invertebrates: Keeping marine fish and other creatures from the world's oceans provides the greatest - and most rewarding challenge in fishkeeping. The colours are spectacular, the setting serene and for those who dive in exotic parts of the world marine life brings very special memories right into the living room. Swallow Aquatics' Fish Houses offer over 200 species of marine fish and 100 invertebrates for sale at any one time and, most importantly, we have specialist staff on help to answer questions and offer advice on what is undoubtedly the most sophisticated and rewarding of the three branches of fishkeeping - coldwater, tropical and marine fish. Customers are welcome to come along and look at these beautiful creatures at no charge and will probably be rewarded with a better display than at many sealife centres. At any one time you will see Clown Fish, Reef Fish, Angels, Tangs, Gobi's and much, much more.

Goldfish, Fancy Fish & Koi: Traditionally the starting point for most fishkeepers to a hobby which provides interest, entertainment and relaxation for a lifetime. However your introduction to this remarkable little fish occurred there is no doubt that it can provide a first class introduction to keeping fish in a tank. This, of course, will invariably lead to greater strides in the hobby, whether in the form of 'fancy goldfish' in a tank, other coldwater tank fish - or fish in a pond, including the beautiful Koi. Swallow Aquatics was one of the pioneers in large scale importation of Koi to the UK. We sell thousands of hand picked Koi every year, from 10cm babies to 80cm monsters, all are cared for and chosen by our expert team, who can provide you with the advice you need to care for your fish.

Reptiles and amphibians: These fascinating creatures make interesting pets and if kept correctly can provide their owners with years of pleasure. All the branches of Swallow Aquatics have a wide variety of snakes, lizards, frogs, tortoises, turtles, insects and spiders. The majority of species kept at Swallow Aquatics are captive bred or farmed. We particularly specialise in Mediterranean tortoises and regularly purchase customers surplus stock, preferring locally bred animals.

Swallow Aquatics backs up its spectacular range of coldwater, Koi, tropical and marine fish with equally spectacular varieties of plant life from major growers all over the world. Many of of the plants we offer for sale are grown by the world renowned 'Tropica'.

Pond Plants & Marginal’s: We stock 30 varieties of marginal pond plants and 16 varieties of lily and all Swallow Aquatics pond plants are GUARANTEED TO GROW. Our dedicated farm provides pond plants for all our branches, where we have five 90-foot polythene tunnels which have been producing high quality pond plants for many years. The pond plant growing facilities have been specially provided so that Swallow Aquatics can provide good quality plants covering a wide variety of species whenever and wherever they are required without having to depend on outside suppliers.
