Good selection of plants will add the final touch

Plants play a key dual role in setting up, establishing and running a well-balanced tank.

  • They add a colourful backcloth to the aquarium and provide a stunning means of brightening up the tank and providing good hiding places for fish.
  • They are Nature's natural way of removing potentially dangerous nitrate from the tank while they grow.

Swallow Aquatics backs up its spectacular range of coldwater, tropical and marine fish with equally spectacular varieties of plant life from major growers all over the world. Many of of the plants we offer for sale are grown by the world renowned 'Tropica'. See our links page for their excellent picture guide to aquatic plants.

We can really offer something for everyone and attract fishkeepers from a wide area to our four branches to 'harvest' the very best plants for their aquariums.

But don't just take our word for it, come along and see for yourself.

Among the many varities we have for sale are:

  • Bunched oxygenator plants to add to a goldfish tank, or to cover filter pipes.
  • Over 30 varieties of potted plants from ferns to plants which will grow out and cover the bottom of the tank.
  • Plants which make it possible to landscape the aquarium from low-priced common plants to more expensive 'mother' plants.
  • The latest addition to the Swallow Aquatics range is planted bogwood and rocks. The wood is specially selected and displays growing plants in as natural an environment as we can make it. There are many varieties, including Riccia Java Fern and Windelov. The range has been developed to suit every pocket and the latest idea is to add suckers to a piece of planted bogwood so that it can be placed above the gravel, providing enormous interest for catfish and other tank bottom dwellers.

We use special display tanks with specialised bright lighting to ensure that all plants are kept in immaculate conditions prior to sale - ready to keep on growing once you get them home.
